IPOH, Aug 6 — A Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) ship, KD Laksamana Tun Abdul Jamil, rescued nine anglers whose boat went adrift at sea near Pulau Perak for three days due to engine failure.

Strategic Communications Division of the Lumut Western Fleet Command Headquarters said in a statement today that acting on information, the ship which was conducting the Melaka Strait Patrol Operation, was dispatched to the location of the boat yesterday.

“KD Laksamana Tun Abdul Jamil has towed the boat to Pulau Segantang which is located 61 nautical miles (110 kilometres) from the scene of the incident.

“(The boat) arrived at 1.30am and later towed to a nearby jetty for further repair work,” it said.

The statement said that all the victims, nine anglers and five boat crew members, were uninjured.
