Perak Police Identify Rundown Stations, Quarters in Need of Repair

IPOH: Perak police have identified several rundown police stations and quarters in need of repair and upgrading works.

State police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said these included stations and quarters in Ipoh, Kampar and Gerik.

He thanked the government for the approval of the RM50 million allocation to repair the facilities at the police stations and quarters nationwide.

“Praise be to Allah, we would like to say thank you to the government for their concern over the welfare and development of the police force.

“We can’t announce today how much we will get from the RM50 million allocation. This allocation will also be used to upgrade the quarters’ facilities such as elevators.

“I have also instructed the logistic department head to identify (other rundown police quarters and stations) so that the repair works can be done immediately.

“By having a conducive and comfortable place to stay and work, we hope our men can provide more excellent service to the community,” he said, in a press conference after taking part in the Perak Police Unity Cycling at Indera Mulia Stadium here, today.

It was reported on July 15 that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the approval of an allocation of RM150 million for the maintenance of facilities of agencies under the Home Ministry (KDN) to ensure the comfort of the country’s security forces personnel.

The government approved an allocation of RM45 million specifically for repair and upgrading work and procurement of equipment at 117 General Operations Force (GOF) control posts and RM40 million for Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom)-related infrastructure and facilities.

For police stations and quarters, Anwar had approved an allocation of RM50 million for the maintenance works.

Anwar also approved RM15 million for the Prisons Department for works to repair quarters and facilities.
